Absorbable Polyglycolic Acid Sutures
SURCRYL is a violet, braided, and coated multifilament suture made of polyglycolic acid with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate coating. It offers high tensile strength, excellent handling, knot security, and smooth tissue passage. Absorbed in 60-90 days, it’s ideal for general soft tissue closure in various surgeries except cardiovascular and neurosurgery.

Absorption
- The hydrolytic action by which the material is broken down results in total absorption in approximately 60 to 90 days.
- The material retains approximately 70% of its initial tensile strength at the end of second week.
- Approximately 50% of tensile strength remain after three weeks.

Contradictions
- Cardiovascular surgery and neurosurgery.
- Since it is an absorb-able suture; It should not to use when an extended wound support is required

- SURCRYL is available in USP sizes 6/0 through 1 (metric sizes 0.7-4.0).
- SURCRYL is available with needles in one dozen boxes.
